Emaciated Stray Dog’s Kindness Helped Him Find A Family

In many cases, abandoned animals often lose their trust in people, so it is necessary to be very careful and patient when you want to help them out.

A good intention is not going to work on itself, and at times, you have to try harder to get where you want to be.

Back in 2015, the Lost & Found Pets WA State’s Amanda Guarascio and Dylan Parkinson had done an amazingly successful job by rescuing an emaciated dog that was lost in the woods near Mt. Rainier in Washington state for weeks.

They arrived at the site right after finding out about the poor animal, but he was simply unapproachable.

“Dylan and I drove up last night after we heard about him, and to our surprise, he was sitting in a little turn-off on the side of the road right where the girl said she had seen him,” Guarascio said. “We spent an hour trying to coax him to us with food but it didn’t get us very far.”

The two of them stayed with the dog until 3 a.m, trying all methods they could think of but failed to win the dog’s trust. The animal was very scared and just kept running away even though he did accept some food from Amanda because he was clearly starving.

The next day Amanda and Dylan came back, this time more prepared. They spent a couple of hours trying to lure the boy with food in vain, and then the girls came up with a strange plan to gain his trust: Amanda laid down, pretended to be hurt, while Dylan drove away. And surprisingly, that plan turned up to be quite good.

The dog – who the girls called Baby Bear– actively got close to Amanda to see what is the matter and stayed with her for 20 minutes. So, after all, he did care about humans! Even with that distant attitude, he was still a sweet dog with a loving heart.

Dylan returned and they excitedly tried the same procedure again. And all of their efforts were worth it this time!

“He growled a little bit, so I started whimpering and yawning – which is a calming signal, and continued to slowly get closer and closer until I was rested up against the sweet little Baby Bear!” Amanda said. “At one point, he got up to try to find us shelter because he saw me as a pathetic human girl that had no survival skills, he sort of took me under his wing!”

At last, with the help of the two girls, the dog was taken to an incredible foster home while Amanda and Dylan tried to find his owners. Under their care, Baby Bear rapidly turned into a strong and joyful boy.

“Words cannot express the feeling we got when we walked in the house and saw our little baby bouncing around and wagging his tail and looking SO healthy!!!” Amanda said excitedly after visiting Baby Bear at his foster home. “His foster family has been doing an amazing job at getting him back to health. The difference is incredible!! He’s put on 5 pounds and it has already made a huge difference in his appearance!! His coat is so healthy and he really looks like a brand new dog now.”

Unfortunately, they were not able to discover anything about his owners. Yet, in the end, Baby Bear was adopted by a kind man and now he’s living a happy life in his new home!

Thanks to the kindness of the two girls and Baby Bear himself, the sad dog found a beautiful family. Look how happy he is!

He is just awesome, isn’t he?
