Bridger from Cheyenne, Wyoming, protected his little sister from an angry dog, and the world now calls him a hero. The six-year-old didn’t think twice before standing between his sister and the charging dog as shared by his aunt Nikki Walker. Bridger didn’t want his sister to get hurt. He ended up with horrible bites on his face.
“If someone had to die, I thought it should be me,” Walker wrote on Instagram and shared photos of Bridger and the 90 stitches on his head.
The boy had to be treated by a skilled plastic surgeon, and it was a long two-hour surgery. The devastated aunt tagged several actors who had played roles of a superhero in their movies.
We could see the names of Tom Holland, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Pratt, Tom Hiddleston, Chadwick Boseman, Vin Diesel, and Chris Evans.
“Hey, all. Please, share my nephew’s story so that it gets as much exposure as it can,” the post read. “We know that our little hero would love some words of encouragement from his favorite heroes. On July 9th, my six-year-old nephew Bridger saved his little sister’s life by standing between her and a charging dog.
After getting bit several times on the face and head, he grabbed his sister’s hand and ran with her to keep her safe. He later said, ‘If someone had to die, I thought it should be me.’ After receiving 90 stitches (give or take) from a skilled plastic surgeon, he’s finally resting at home.
We love our brave boy and want all the other superheroes to know about this latest hero who joined their ranks.”
Her followers asked tons of questions and some of them were related to the dog. According to Walker, the dog was a German Shepherd mix. Its owners decided to euthanize it after the boy was attacked. Bridger was really upset about that. He didn’t want the dog to be killed.
“Bridger actually cried when he found out that the dog would be put down. He hated the idea of any dog—even that one—dying.”
Luckily, the attack didn’t leave any consequences on Bridger and his great personality. His injuries healed really well. Of course, little Bridger couldn’t smile widely at the beginning. His aunt read some of the comments people wrote about him, and Bridger felt a little better.
“He can’t smile too widely yet, but he was grinning as I read some of your comments to him. I’d also like to mention here that the dog’s owners are really great people who have been nothing but kind to Bridger and his family.
We feel no resentment toward them at all, and—if anything—there’s only been an increase of love between our families as a result of this incident.”
Walker said that a lot of people offered financial help for the boy. The family planned to redirect the donations to mission 22. It’s a community organization devoted to veterans in need. Some of the funds may be used for the wounded warrior project.
Bridger likes rocks and he wants to “start a post where people can share with him pictures of cool rocks that they see.”
There’s also an address for all the people who want to send him some cool rocks. Here’s the address:

A lot of platforms shared Bridger’s story. The Good News Movement shared his horrible experience on Instagram. Ruby Rose, the Batwoman, paid respect to the brave boy, calling him “a true hero.”
The Incredible Hulk aka Mark Ruffalo popped in the comments section, too.
“Dear Bridger, I just read about what happened to you and I wanted to reach out to say this… People who put the well beings of others in front of themselves are the most heroic and thoughtful people I know.
I truly respect and admire your courage and your heart. Real courage isn’t dominating people or fighting against people or walking around like a tough guy. Real courage is knowing what is right to do and doing it even when it might end up hurting you somehow.
You are more of man than many, many I have seen or known. With Admiration…Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk/Professor).”
Anne Hathaway praised the little hero on Facebook.
“ I’m not an Avenger, but I know a superhero when I see one. I can only hope I’m half as brave in my life as you are in yours, Bridger. Wishing you an easeful recovery, and many cool looking rocks.”
